FAQ

Studio:

Q: How do I book recording time at South Coast?
A: Fill out the contact form on the booking page or call (361) 438-2120. We will contact you within five business days to begin the booking process. If possible, please have a work tape or demo ready to share (it doesn’t have to be perfect).

Q: How does payment work?
A: For recording, a $100 downpayment is required per day booked. For mixing, full payment is required upon delivery of the mixes. For production, full payment is required before pre-production begins.

Q: What if we have to reschedule or cancel our booking?
A: Rescheduled or canceled bookings 2 weeks prior to scheduled recording time can be rescheduled or canceled with no cost to the Artists. Cancelations within the 2 week time window will result in the downpayment of $100 becoming your reschedule/cancelation fee.

Q: What hours are the studio open/available?

A: The studio is opened by appointment only and all scheduled times will be discussed with the party.

Q: Do you offer mix revisions after initial mix is complete?

A: Every mix will be able to have up to 3 revisions to get everything just right. If addition revisions are needed after 3, it will result in by the hour studio time needed to make the adjustments.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: Venmo, PayPal (friends and family payment only), Cashapp, or Cash (USD).

Q: What genres do you work on?
A: Country, indie, rock, metal and anything within those sub-genres. We don’t work on hip-hop, R&B, rap, or classical music because we don’t have experience in those genres.

Q: Can I bring a videographer/photographer to the session?
A: Yes. You are welcome to bring whomever you want to your session. We can also provide this service at an extra charge.

Q: How much does it cost to record one song?
A: It depends on a wide variety of factors. During the initial contact phase we will go through the details of your project and provide you with a project estimate.

Q: Does South Coast do mastering?
A: Yes, we do offer mastering. With that being said, we are not specifically a mastering studio and don’t mind sending your masters off to be run thru specific outboard gear or mastered by someone specific to that skill set.

Q: Can we record a quick demo or something in just an hour or two?
A: We aim to create commercially viable music with a sound that can hold its own on the radio or compete with other commercial music on Spotify, Apple Music, etc. If during the initial contact phase we determine that standard cannot be upheld due to budget or time restrictions, we may not take the project.
